Cavities and gingivitis—two highly preventable conditions—often go untreated, potentially leading to severe gum disease, tooth loss and even serious health issues such as heart disease and cancer. The good news? Regular brushing, flossing and dental check-ups can significantly reduce the risk of these long-term oral health problems.
A free Well Moment webinar, The Impact of Dental Hygiene on Overall Health, will explore the vital connection between dental health and overall well-being. The session will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at 12 p.m. CT.
Participants will learn:
- The benefits of regular dental visits in preventing gum disease and other serious conditions
- The connection between oral health and cardiovascular disease
- The importance of dental screenings for identifying cancer and other health risks
The latest webinar in the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network's community health education series will feature Rhonda Switzer-Nadasdi, DMD, CEO of Interfaith Dental, a Middle Tennessee nonprofit that helps vulnerable populations achieve and sustain a healthy smile. Since Dr. Switzer-Nadasdi began as the organization's first employee in 1995, it has grown it from a two-chair operation in a church basement to two clinics with a staff of nearly 60.
