Healthiest Employers, a national award program that started in 2009, has named Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) one of the Healthiest Employers in Tennessee in the category for organizations with more than 10,000 employees.
The award recognizes organizations that take a more proactive, innovative approach to employee health benefits and show significant investment in their populations' health and wellbeing.
As a state finalist, VUMC is also in the running for the Healthiest Workplaces in America award; winners will be announced on Oct. 4. Find the full list of Tennessee's winners here.
“This recognition is truly an honor that reflects the amazing work done by so many at all levels to champion these efforts. We are thankful to all of those who engage in these programs and especially to senior leadership for their ongoing support for these initiatives," said Lori Rolando, MD, MPH, executive director of Vanderbilt Health and Wellness.
VUMC was nominated for the award with the assistance of Health Plus, VUMC's faculty/staff health promotion program.
