Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) and Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital were recently named to Money and The Leapfrog Group’s inaugural list of Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery.
The group chose hospitals with the best abilities to perform these types of surgeries, with a close look at volume and safety. Studies show that positive outcomes for bariatric surgery are associated with facilities and surgeons that perform the surgery frequently. Hospitals had to meet Leapfrog's bariatric surgery and safe surgery checklist standards, earning a safety grade of B or higher and a standardized infection ratio of less than one for central-line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs).
Vanderbilt's MyWeightLossHealth – Surgical Weight Loss Bundle patients can choose to have their surgeries at VUH and Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.
