Metro Nashville Public Schools' (MNPS) success with Vanderbilt's MyHealth Bundles program was the focus of a recent Catalyst for Payment Reform (CPR) podcast featuring CJ Stimson, MD, JD, Senior Vice President of Value Transformation at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). The call is a follow-up to a CPR-hosted webinar in March 2021, where Dr. Stimson and David Hines of MNPS reported on the program's successes and lessons on the one-year anniversary of its implementation.
In the 17-minute podcast, CPR Executive Director Suzanne Delbanco interviews Dr. Stimson about MNPS' decision to engage in a direct contract bundled payment arrangement with VUMC for maternity care, as well as the scope and features of MyHealth Bundles program.
The MyMaternityHealth bundle offers MNPS employees comprehensive maternity services at one “bundled” price. Those services include prenatal visits, labs, imaging, labor & delivery, and 12 weeks of postpartum care for both mother and infant, as well as childbirth and lactation classes.
Dr. Stimson explains how these innovative direct-to-provider relationship can mitigate risk for employers, and he makes some predictions about the future of direct contract bundled payments.
